Route A:
Start at the Sports Centre and head up Southwick Hill via Oakdene Crescent, up to Truleigh Hill. Back via the Mile Oak valley, cutting the corner off from the bottom of the first hill. It’s 7 miles.
Route B:
Meet at the entrance of Wild Park opposite Barcombe Road on the A27 Lewes Road, this is between the bottom of Coldean Lane and the Railway Viaduct at the bottom of Moulsecoomb Way. There is parking at the entrance of Wild Park and in Barcombe Road.
The run will include a lap of Wild Park to begin so any late comers can wait at the start for us to come back round. We’ll continue east, cross Coldean Lane and into Stanmer Woods and then into the park at the entrance. Up the road take a right up to the woods Uni side and down to the house and church. From there we will make our way back via the flatter route!
Route C:
Head out of the sports centre, up Chalkey Road and then right along Thornhill Rise. Head through the tunnel and turn left once on the other side. We’ll then follow the A27 before dropping through Mile Oak farm. At this point we will then turn right onto the Mile Oak Road and head towards the South Downs Way. When we reach the SDW, will head up the hill to Pete’s Post before heading to the Foredown Track. We’ll turn off the track at the point we reach the turn for the tunnel under the road. Through the tunnel again and back down Thornhill Rise to the sports centre.
Approx 7.5 miles.
Route D:
As per route C but after we have gone through Mile Oak farm and headed onto Mile Oak Road, take the right turn for the track which takes you back to the pylons junction. At the junction, turn right onto the Foredown track and then run right along the Foredown Road, past the tower until you reach the junction with Fox Way. Then head back along Fox Way to the sports centre.
Approx 4.5 miles
Route E:
Head up Chalky Rd/Fox Way across the field and left onto Foredown Rd. Across the A27 bridge down through New Barn Farm and up the other side. Turn left at the top of the hill and go up to Devil’s Dyke. Go along the road until level with Devil’s Dyke.
(Those wanting a shorter route could peel away here and head to Peter’s Post and back down from there). Shorter route approx. 5 miles
The rest of us head down Devil’s Dyke, then left at the bottom to come out on the Poynings Rd. Left past the Royal Oak and then left up the footpath, through the woods and then to Devil’s Dyke pub. West along the downs, once through the gate bear left and head back towards the Sports Centre.
Once nearly back to civilisation take the right turn down the hill to go through the tunnel under the A27. Along Thornhill Rise and Chalky Rd to the Sports Centre.
Total Distance 7.75miles.
Route F:
Up the Foredown track to the pylons, then turn left follow path down to farm. Through gate up to Southwick Hill.
Then down to Upper Kingston Lane turning left just before you get to the road, which will bring you out onto Mile Oak Road and back to the sports centre. This is a 4-5 mile short run
