About us

Portslade Hedgehoppers is a small, friendly running and walking club. We warmly welcome runners and walkers of all abilities. The club was founded in 1982 and is a member of the West Sussex Fun Run League and England Athletics.

We are pleased to welcome runners of all abilities, although we regret that we are unable to cater for absolute beginners.

Our members participate in a number of events such as the West Sussex Fun Run League (WSFRL) races, parkruns, cross country and road races, half marathon and up to full marathons and ultras. So whether you are simply looking to keep fit, socialise, make new friends or run your first race, whatever the distance, then why not join the Hedgehoppers.

Our runners meet twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Tuesday night is our main club night and most Tuesdays we meet at 6.45pm at Portslade Sports Centre, Chalky Road, Portslade, with the exception of the first Tuesday of each month when we run from a different venue. Our Tuesday night runs are a group social run session.

Our Thursday night sessions focus mainly on speed work and sometimes hill reps, and we meet at various locations around Hove, Portslade and Shoreham. Please see the Thursday night training session page for more details.

The walkers meet on Tuesdays at 6.30pm at various venues. Please see their page for more information.

How to Join

Email James at hedgehoppers@btopenworld.com or turn up on any Tuesday evening at 6.45pm at Portslade Centre and introduce yourself to the runners waiting there.

Please note that the first Tuesday of each month is an away run, so if you are planning to run with us for the first time on that week please contact the club to find out where we are running from.

There is no club membership fee, so please feel free to come and try our club out for a week or two. The club membership can be found by clicking on the link below:
