About us

Portslade Hedgehoppers is a small, friendly running club. We warmly welcome runners of all abilities. The club was founded in 1982 and is a member of the West Sussex Fun Run League, Sussex Cross Country League and England Athletics.

We are pleased to welcome runners of all abilities, although we regret that we are unable to cater for absolute beginners.

Our members participate in a number of events such as the West Sussex Fun Run League (WSFRL) races, parkruns, cross country and road races, half marathon and up to full marathons and ultras. So whether you are simply looking to keep fit, socialise, make new friends or run your first race, whatever the distance, then why not join the Hedgehoppers.

Our runners meet twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Tuesday night is our main club night meeting at 6.45pm for a group social run session. See the Tuesday training page for details of where we’re meeting next.

Our Thursday night sessions focus mainly on speed work and sometimes hill reps, and we meet at various locations around Hove, Portslade and Shoreham. Please see the Thursday night training session page for more details.

How to Join the Club

Club membership is £10 for the year to April. We encourage anyone interested in joining the club to come along to one of our Tuesday evening sessions to see what we’re like. You’ll be able to meet and run with a suitably paced group.

Email Val at secretary@portsladehedgehoppers.com so we know to look out for you – or turn up on any Tuesday evening at 6.45pm and introduce yourself to the runners waiting there.

Once you’re ready to join, use our Hedgehopper’s Membermojo system to sign up.
