The Details

1. Twelve events in all, so one per month, starting in January and finishing in December.

2. Your best 7 results to count in the final series result.

3. In order to make the series more of a level playing field, and in the true spirit of parkrun inclusivity, 10 of the events will be scored in order of age-graded percentage.  The other two will be ‘naked’ ie scored by the accuracy of your time prediction (provided to the organiser in advance) when not wearing a watch on the run.

4. ALL club members, including brand new and second-claim members, are most welcome to take part. If you haven’t already done so, it would be useful for our results compiler if you would update your parkrun profile to include the Portslade Hedgehoppers club name.

5. Volunteers will also score points.

6. We will incorporate a little bit of ‘parkrun tourism’ as this seems to be of growing interest to club members, but nothing too far afield!

History

Launched In January 2017, the Hedgehoppers parkrun Grand Prix is to open to everyone at the club and follows the parkrun ethos of being open to all – whether you like to run, walk or volunteer at one of the events.

The Hedgehoppers parkrun GP was developed from suggestions by Bob Page, to mirror in some form Arena 80’s super series, and Roy Taylor, to fill in a gap that existed at the time between WSFRL races in the first months of the year (caused by changes to their calendar).  The event has since developed into a monthly competition held each year, enabling Hedgehoppers to meet up, run, walk, or volunteer, and socialise at a variety of parkruns, most of them fairly local.
